New Image has been a family a run business for more than 30 years and is well known within Weymouth and the wider Dorset area. During this time we’ve worked hard to establish an excellent reputation within the local community as well as earning our place as a trusted trade supplier.

In recent years, we’ve expanded our offering to include bespoke kitchens, bathrooms, bedroom and office furniture and felt our existing branding no longer represented our service. After careful consideration, we decided the time had come for a new look and feel and wanted to create something elegant and timeless, that reflected the quality of our products and our staffs experience and expertise.

The branding has given us a new lease of life and we’re delighted the time has finally come to share our revamp with new and existing customers.

We’d be thrilled if you take some time to pop in the showroom and see the makeover for yourself – we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. New Image is still owned and ran by the same great team, so you can rest assured that you will receive the same exemplary customer service and product advice.

New Image Tiles

With the growth of national superstores and online shopping, it can be easy for customers to overlook independent retailers. Despite the expertise, product range and level of the service they offer many people choose to opt for a better-known brand.

As a local family business we are keen to stand up and support the local business community. Here’s just 7 of the reasons we think you should shop local and visit New Image Tiles for your next DIY or restoration project.

  1. Independent and family run

New Image Tiles was founded in 1989 and has established itself as the premier independent tile, kitchen and bathroom retailer in Weymouth. Over the course of 30 years, the business has gone from strength to strength and now boasts an impressive showroom and warehousing. Business owner, Steve Cobb has worked incredibly hard to grow the business from its humble beginnings with the help of his family members and a team of dedicated staff.

  1. Full scale displays

We know it can be difficult to visualise products for your home, especially when choosing them from a brochure or product sample. That’s why we’ve installed more than 30 full scale room displays in our Weymouth showroom, so you can experience them in situ. Whether you’re looking to buy tiles, a kitchen or a full bathroom suite, our team of experienced and friendly staff can walk you around each display, giving you the opportunity to get a really good feel for our products before purchasing them for your renovation project.

  1. Trusted by the trades

In addition to helping customers with their home and DIY projects, we have an excellent working relationship with a number of local tradesmen. We are the ‘go to’ supplier for some of the most respected bathroom, kitchen and tile fitters in Weymouth thanks our expansive range of products and competitive prices.

  1. Expert staff

Our staff are the backbone of New Image Tiles and are vital to the success of the company. Each department has an expert team with a wealth of industry experience, who can help make your vision a reality. We are extremely proud of the level of customer service and exceptional product knowledge our staff offer and we always go the extra mile to ensure our customers have a pleasant experience.

  1. High quality products

The key to any home restoration project is quality products, that’s why we’re proud to stock some of the leading brands. We are a Neff master partner and supplier of Crosswater, Vado, Franke and Bosch. We are always expanding our product range in line with the latest styles and trends to ensure that we can provide our discerning customers with everything they need at affordable prices. We have recently expanded our offering to include Karndean flooring as well as Annie Sloan chalk paint, both of which are proving very popular.

  1. Supporting the community

As a local business supported by local customers, we feel that it’s really important to give back wherever possible. At New Image tiles we like to champion good causes and have held a number of fundraising events in support of local charities, including Weldmar Hospicecare and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Some of our staff members have even ‘braved the shave’ and shaved their hair off in aid of Macmillan!

  1. Excellent location

Our Weymouth showroom is situated on the Granby Industrial Estate with ample free parking facilities. Our accessible location on the outskirts of central Weymouth means that getting to our showroom is a straightforward journey.

New Image Tiles

2019 marks 30 years since New Image Tiles, Kitchens and Bathrooms first started trading

30 years! It doesn’t seem possible that “New Image Ceramics” the tile fixing business that Steve Cobb started in 1989 is now celebrating its 30th anniversary – and celebrating with some fabulous offers.

Steve Cobb, celebrating 30 years in business.
Steve Cobb, celebrating 30 years in business.

Humble Beginnings

In 1989 Steve opened his first store on Weymouth’s Abbotsbury Road and from there the business developed into a phenomenal success. He had already identified that the local choice was limited and that, in order to satisfy his ambition, he would need to find larger, more practical premises where expansion could be achieved.

Just over 10 years later he found a site on the town’s Granby Industrial Estate, and it was big! Many people wondered what on earth he was up to in wanting such a big site, not mention choosing to do this in the middle of a recession.

Purpose built tile, kitchen and bathroom showroom

Well, obviously Steve knew what he was doing and from his original shop there soon appeared one of the most practical and attractive buildings, specifically built to his requirements. Not just for tiles, of course but showrooms that now house over 30 room-sized displays of kitchens and bathrooms.

In total the showrooms and warehouse span 12,500 square feet, so spacious as to allow ease of browsing and choosing. And the displays offer choices to suit all tastes, styles and budgets. Add to this the “fantastic service, fair prices and friendly staff” (quoted from their website) then you appreciate what a great company this is.

From quite literally humble beginnings in Abbotsbury Road, great foresight by Steve Cobb has seen his firm grow into a significant independently-owned, family run business with sustainable local employment that specialises in not just tiles, but kitchens and bathrooms too! Supplying to both the general public and trade. The kitchens and bathrooms cater for all budgets, ranging from the basics right through to bespoke made to order furniture, not to mention all of the appliances, sinks and taps to boot!

Prestigious developments such as the Lorton Park site have been fitted and furnished with tiles and bathrooms from New Image, proudly working in tandem with highly respected local building firm AKI.

Celebrations

On Saturday 15th June special anniversary celebration took place. There was live music, free food and drink and also some extraordinary discounts on selected tiles, kitchens, bathrooms and Neff appliances. In fact, 30% off those mentioned. So New Image certainly pushed the boat out during this milestone event. Beside this there were Neff cooking demonstrations and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint demonstrations. Oh yes, also a chance to win a bathroom for £5!

Looking forward

With the future in mind Steve has recently expanded the business further by opening a distribution centre and workshop right here in Weymouth, situated in the new fantastic Green Lane development in Chickerell, expertly built by Buckland Developments. The workshop will become the hub for the hand finishing of their kitchens and bathrooms. It’s clear exciting times are ahead for New Image!

New Image Tiles

We often find ourselves complaining that our high streets and towns and villages are becoming like ‘ghost towns’ with fewer shops, pubs and local businesses but a plethora of empty properties, charity shops and phone outlets. There is plenty of research that will tell you that it is because we seldom buy local anymore.

Shop closing down.

Empty high street shops. Buy local to maintain busy high streets.

Superstore convenience

Superstores and chain stores are amazing places to buy what you need (and what you don’t!) under one roof. They also keep a large number of (often poorly paid) staff employed. However they do not boost the local economy. They sell cheaply but the profits go into a big pot for the stock holders and executives’ wages.

Their prices are competitive because they buy in huge quantities at cheap rates and over inflate their prices for short periods so that they can appear to offer huge discounts. This is often at the expense of the cheap labour in the countries of origin. A large number of those countries don’t follow minimum wage strategies or environmental policies that are affecting the global economy. This sometimes has life threatening effects on their employees.

Manual labour worker.

Also the goods are often of poor quality and the transportation costs are high and environmentally damaging. As a result local producers and farmers are regularly forced to sell at a loss and many go out of business every year. These aspects are seldom considered or we conveniently manage to forget them when we spot a bargain.

Benefits of buying local

Buying locally from small businesses has many beneficial effects for the community.

Small businesses…

  • keep your hard earned money in the local community.
  • are unique. They look and feel different to the generic big stores.
  • help a street to look vibrant and dynamic encouraging more shoppers.
  • staff in have better product knowledge and are usually experts in their field.
  • promote healthy competition and competitive pricing.
  • create happy customers and repeat customers.
  • enable traditional family owned businesses to thrive.
  • strengthen the local economy.
  • help local entrepreneurs to get started.
  • invest in local people. They’re the largest employers nationally and most local jobs.
  • usually pay higher wages than a national chain.
  • tend to support local charities.
  • support local tradesmen.
  • make shopping a more sensory and social experience.
  • value customers more. Therefore the service and after sales is likely to be better.
  • support the area where you work, live and play.
  • encourage face-to-face interaction. They help fix problems so less hanging on the phone for ages.
  • are real people to talk to and have a conversation with.

Small businesses equals big communities

Many small local businesses do not make huge profits. Often the profits they do make go into funding things like the upkeep of the property, advertising, rates, rent, printing and wages. This then puts that money straight back into the community and a healthy local community needs that money to thrive. Research shows that just a £10 spend with a local independent shop puts an extra £50 back into the local economy by that money going into nearby shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Thus keeping this money re-circulating at a local level.

The tax burdens on a local community can be higher if a town is filled with national companies because they are often given tax incentives to move to a town but they can pay less in taxes which means that local residents end up paying more.

There is also the increase of road traffic and the thousands of tonnes of packaging that we should all consider when we don’t buy locally! Consumers are starting to realise the results of their shopping habits as more and more local amenities and shops disappear, villages are losing their small community atmosphere and shopping is becoming more generic.

Buy local

So before you buy from a multi-national company or a superstore or online check whether your local small businesses can provide what you need. It may not always be as convenient, or quite as cheap, but you will be helping to keep the spirit of the town going and helping your local community in many different ways.

The more we shop locally the more shops there will be. Our advice, especially with tiles, kitchens and bathrooms, is to put your money where your house is and buy local.

Light up your bathroom

Good lighting is important in any room in your house and it can be vital in your bathroom especially if that is where you apply contact lenses or make-up. If the bathroom lighting is too dull there will be shadows that could hide uneven surfaces and can make skin tones look yellowish, which is never a flattering look!

Overhead lights are essential for maximum functionality, and when combined with extra light fittings, such as LED strips, spotlights, pendant lights, wall mounted sconces or lit mirrors will add a focal point to any bathroom.

Think outside of the box

Bathroom Cabinets are often a must in a bathroom to keep it clutter free.light up bathroom cabinet

Unlit mirror cabinets are basic in that they don’t have lights, chargers or de-mister pads but they are perfect for bathrooms where there is not the option to install a power supply or retrospective installation.

Technology has brought illuminated cabinets into the 21st Century with all sorts of wizardry that would suit even the most technologically minded of people. Like the illuminated mirrors, they will come in various sizes with a range of features including those mentioned above plus USB chargers, proximity sensor and internal heated pads. Cabinets can be single or double with most being wall mounted but some are able to be recessed into the wall giving a smooth sleek appearance.

When fitting any electrical appliances in your bathroom be sure to use a qualified electrician and approved installer to ensure that the fittings comply with the IP44 regulations.

At New Image we have a selection of lighting, mirrors and cabinets for you to look at within our inspirational bathroom displays with many more available from our ranges.

So put a little light in your life and let your mirror reflect your style.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Mirrors are often thought of as a luxurious add-on in a bathroom but they should be an integral part of the initial design. There are lots of ways that a mirror can enhance your bathroom and reflecting light, creating the illusion of more space, is one of the most beneficial features, especially in a dim room with no natural lighting.

Mirrors fall into 2 main categories- mirrors that are incorporated within a cabinet and mirrors that aren’t.

Mirrors that aren’t in a cabinet come in various shapes and sizes, as well as lit or unlit.

Unlit mirrors can be framed or unframed, square, arched, rectangular and round, plain or fancy, with a shelf or without, modern and traditional styling, something to suit most bathrooms. This type of mirror does not require any electrical work so can be fitted retrospectively into a bathroom.

Illuminated mirrors that require hard wiring, once again, come in all different shapes and sizes with added extras; Motion sensors, digital clocks, mood changing lights, de-mister pads, LED lighting in various positions, magnifying sections, Bluetooth connectivity, speakers, shavers/toothbrush chargers to name but a few of the features.

If a power supply is not an option, or you are fitting retrospectively and do not want to disturb your walls but still want a lit mirror there are battery powered LED mirror

s available that are exempt from IEE wiring regulations and suitable, therefore, for any area of your bathroom.

If you need a real close up then small magnifying mirrors could be the answer. Mostly wall mounted some have extendable arms so that they fold away when not in use and some are illuminated but they all have a plain mirror on one side and a magnifying mirror [up to X5] on the other.

task lighting next to a plain mirror

Task lighting

The best scenario for accurate shaving or application of make-up is to fit wall mounted sconces to either side of a plain mirror to avoid shadows. Avoid a light directly above a mirror because this throws strong light onto your forehead creating deep shadows below your eyes, nose and chin- not flattering as this can make you look older! 75-100 watts, 20-25 LEDs will give you excellent task lighting.

Accent lighting

If you have recesses or a shower cubicle then directional lighting such as spotlights will focus the illumination into those areas.

For a decorative effect and visual interest a chandelier will add sparkle and a touch of glamour to a bathroom with high ceilings, but always check that they are suitable for a bathroom.

Light and extractor fan combinations are available that can be installed within a shower cubicle [zone 1] – these do need to meet IEE wiring regulations and must be  Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV), but will combine 2 benefits – lighting and moisture extraction.

Flexible LED strip lighting can be used along the top and bottom of wall cabinets, recessed into tiling, used in alcoves, to accentuate sloping ceilings and installed to highlight architectural details.

Plinth lighting kits are available to install in bath panels, tiles, hard wood and laminate type flooring- these add interest to any room and bathe the floor with light- an area usually ignored.

A dimmer switch could be added to the bathroom’s main lighting- bright light is essential but dimmed lighting is more calming and romantic and  using a dimmer switch in the morning would let your eyes get used to the harsh light of day in a much more gentle fashion.

Waste disposal unit

Waste disposal units are a great alternative for dealing with home food waste

We’ve known for a long time that waste disposal units are fantastic appliances for disposing of home food waste. However we find that many people visiting us want to know more about them and find out exactly what is a waste disposal unit. They are in fact a little device that is fitted to the outlet drain of your sink, usually a half bowl. It can be turned on to mash or grind up all the non-liquid waste that collects in your kitchen sink. Once all the food waste has been ground down it can easily be washed down the waste pipes and it will be treated by your waste water company.

How much is a waste disposal unit and what are the running costs?

Food waste disposal units range in price from about £100 upwards depending on the size and ferocity of the unit plus the fitting costs. Running costs are just pennies a week – they use about the same as a 100 watt light bulb for 3 minutes of running time and less water than a short toilet flush. There are no extra costs required for disposable bin bags, no cleaning materials required and it will have paid for itself in 2 to 3 years. Your kitchen will stay clean and fresh by eliminating bagged waste – no nasty whiffs that attract insects and vermin and you’ll also free up the space that a caddy requires.

Sink with waste disposal unit

A sink with waste disposal unit is better than composting food waste; no space is required or the mess of a compost heap; it saves on landfill, and addresses the issue of greenhouse gasses, methane and CO2, as they are not captured and reused from landfill sites.

Food waste that has been through a food disposal unit is beneficial to the environment. It is sent through the pipes into the water system and goes to sewage treatment works. There it is put to good use and helps with the smooth operation of sewage treatment using the process of anaerobic digestion where it is converted to biogas which in turn generates power that is then sold on to the National Grid. 80% of sewage works use this process saving a whopping 19 million tonnes of food waste going to landfill sites.

Process of Food waste
Food Pyramid from all over the world.

Waste Disposal Units & Food Waste Facts

Worldwide food waste costs billions of pounds annually and creates massive environmental issues in its disposal costs, landfill costs and with the production of Methane & CO2 that damages the ozone layer.

The facts are startling and as much as possible should be done to help this situation and we can all do our bit!!

UK Food Waste Facts per Year

  • 38% of all fruit and vegetables is wasted – melons are the worst offenders at 25%
  • 35% of all fish and seafood
  • 30% of cereals
  • 20% of dairy products
  • 13% of meat
  • 22.4% of bread – a staggering 24 million slices
  • Food waste costs the average family £60 a month/£700 a year- that’s a weekend away!!
  • 11.7% of food purchases avoidably wasted
  • 15 million tonnes is wasted per year
  • 4.3 million tonnes of edible food is thrown away
  • 97% of food waste goes to landfill- that is 33 million tonnes!
  • Every tonne of food waste creates 3.8 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions [Waste & Resources Action Programme WRAP]
  • Landfill food waste produces Methane which is 21 times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas [Environmental Protection Agency EPA]

What Can We Do To Help?

We can all do our bit to save money for ourselves and help our environment at the same time.

  • Only buy what you need.
  • Organise your fridge;
  1. Meat at the bottom- coldest area
  2. Eggs in the middle
  3. Butter & cheese at the top – warmest area
  4. Bottles & condiments in the door
  5. Salad and vegetables in the drawer
  • Keep cheese wrapped
  • Keep bread in a cool dark place & make breadcrumbs from stale bread
  • Don’t store fruit and vegetables together
  • Store potatoes, onions, squashes and garlic in a cool dark place
  • Store tomatoes at room temperature, stem side down
  • Freeze extra portions for use on another day

How to reduce food waste

Whatever food waste you do produce should not be put into your regular waste bin but in a recycle [brown] bin for collection.

If you have a garden then a compost bin is useful for creating your own compost, which your plants will love, create a nutrient rich compost out of all your:

  • Fruit and vegetable trimmings
  • Egg shells
  • Tea bags
  • Coffee grounds
  • Remember no cooked food should be put into a garden compost bin.

How food waste is recycled

We hope you can see that a few simple changes can, and do, make all the difference. So if you hate your food waste and your smelly brown recycle bin, a waste disposal unit may be the answer. Come into our showroom and talk to the kitchen department for more information.

New Image Tiles

‘Drip, drip, drop, Little April shower, I’m getting wet, And I don’t care at all!’

Showers are on the way out as warmer weather approaches but shower sales are on the increase. It is estimated that up to 90% of UK households have at least one shower installation with 2/3 of those being an over-the-bath shower.

Choosing the right shower

The majority of the bathroom renovations that New Image design are for the replacement of a bath with a walk in shower enclosure. There is an increased preference for showering over bathing – gone are the days of a bath once a week on a Sunday, before school on Monday, and the hope that you were the first one in the 3 inches of lukewarm water!! Now we want, and expect, to have a shower or bath at least once a day, it might be a quick awakener in the morning or a more relaxed longer drenching after work.
There is a huge variety of showers available and there is something to suit everyone from a very basic handheld on a riser to all singing and dancing multi-functional columns.

Electric Showers

Electric showers are still the most popular choice in the UK at the moment. At New Image we show one range of instantaneous electric shower that is available in 2 models, both available in either 8.5kw or 9.5kw- the 9.5kw shower may need extra electrical work. Features of market leaders AKW electric showers include;
• Contemporary styles and high gloss finish
• LED Temperature & flow indicators on ‘ іTherm’ model

• Independent temperature and flow controls
• Phased /auto shutdown on

‘iTherm’ model
• Quick and easy to install
• 8 electrical/water entry points
• Existing cable & pipework compatible
• Rounded surfaces and edges for safety
• Connected to cold mains water only

Why did the burglar take a shower? He wanted to make a clean getaway!

Thermostatic – Exposed Valves

Very popular because of the many different ranges and options available from most bathroom manufacturers and suppliers, with all price ranges covered. They all offer different features that can include;
• Round or square overhead drenchers
• Contemporary and traditional styles
• Riser rails
• Hand held shower only or additional to overhead
• Thermostatic bar that is wall mounted and regulates the temperature and flow
• Exposed bar that acts as diverter from handheld to fixed overhead.
• Simple to install- especially if used with exposed valve wall mounting bracket kits.
• Safety shutdown if hot or cold water fails
• Can be fitted to low pressure systems as low as 0.2 bar
• Multi-function handsets

Thermostatic – Concealed Valves

Unlike exposed valves, concealed valves have all the technical stuff hidden behind a wall within the wall’s cavity. They still offer all the same features with a few extra thrown in for good measure;
• Valves can be portrait or landscape and can be multi-functional.
• Fitted independently from the showering heads -so could be outside of the enclosure.
• Contemporary and traditional styling, round and square.
• Body jets
• Drenching shower heads can be wall or ceiling mounted and ceiling recessed.
• A range of sizes is available for shower heads and shower arms.
• Handsets can be static or on a riser and connected to its own wall outlet.
• Handsets can be single or multi-functional.
• Thermostatic to control temperature, flow and divert between handheld and drencher.

Digital options are available within this category and interest in digital showers is on the rise as we use more technology in every aspect of our lives- incorporating the latest technology, reliability is improved and digital showers can offer all the features of the concealed valves and also include;
• Remote controls
• Colour changing controls
• Self-cleaning mode
• Quiet pumps
• Temperature override
• Precise control

Life is like a shower- one wrong turn and you’re in hot water!

Spa Thermostatic Shower Columns

For a very modern spa-style look then an all singing and dancing shower column could be the answer. Most shower manufacturers will offer a column shower in their range. All the controls, heads and body jets are all integrated in one column that could be recessed into a wall or wall mounted with all the plumbing hidden behind the column. A minimal 2.0 bar pressure is generally required for a column shower. Other features can include;
• A range of finishes- Gun metal, chrome, stainless steel, matt silver, black.
• Overhead LED lights.
• Touch controls
• Swivel body jets
• Overhead shower and handset
• Touch function
• Shelf
• Thermostatic controls

It is obvious that there is a huge range of showers on the market and the choosing the right shower is infinitely variable to encompass all price brackets and requirements and there is no doubt that the showering market will continue to grow and evolve as the demand for showers increases. Come into New Image and see our impressive range of showers.

Singing in the shower is great until you get shampoo in your mouth- then it’s more like a soap opera!!

New Image Tiles

As a Local business owner, we (The Dorset Echo) asked Steve Cobb from New Image Tiles, Kitchens and Bathrooms on the Granby in Weymouth, what his opinion was with our exit from the Europe Union.

“Being one of the largest independent retail showrooms in Dorset, because we purchase the majority of our products from European countries, we get a really good insight in how Brexit is affecting the UK market. We have seen the Euro fluctuate on a regular basis over the past couple of years, and it has been just as low in the past as it currently is, and I feel the media sometimes doesn’t help, by spreading doom and gloom through the nation, when the reality is nothing has changed.

We purchase all our tiles direct from factories in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, and all of our component parts for our kitchen manufacturing, is purchased direct from the top manufacturers in Germany, and having had many a conversation with Business owners, Reps and Agents that work for all these European suppliers, the overall opinion is that very little will change, the reason for this is that we are a customer, and Europe needs our custom, especially having had a very difficult time during the recession, where in some cases up to 50% of factories had to close.”

“I feel that there are definitely some suppliers that are using Brexit as an opportunity and excuse to increase prices, and to be fair, there are normally price increases year on year anyway. Some of our suppliers have not mentioned any increases, others have had a small increase, but some like Neff Kitchen Appliances are having to increase their prices by 8-10% due to raw material suppliers increase. Neff will have their increase on 15th November, so I am encouraging anyone looking at appliances to place their orders quickly and beat the increase. If you are having a new kitchen and all new appliances, you could save up to £500 by getting your order in now.”

Price Fluctuations from Brexit

Despite many of the price increases that we are seeing in the country, Steve has managed to keep most of his prices the same, some will have to go up, but some have come down. We asked Steve how he has managed to do this, and Steve replied

“I have always been very passionate about trying to give our customers the very best service and good quality products at great value for money, and to achieve this we have had to work harder and smarter, having spent many months, sourcing better prices for our materials and negotiating with suppliers, much the same as Tesco have with Unilever, to maintain the best we possibly can for our customers. In fact with some of our kitchens we have managed to reduce the prices by around 15%, which if you previously paid £10,000, today you could get it for £8,500 which is a massive saving, when you think other suppliers with their increases, you would probably be paying £11,000.”

“I am very excited about the future, as we continue to expand our manufacturing plant, investing in more Italian CNC machinery, and having recently released our own Germanic True Handless range of Kitchen Furniture, and our own bespoke Bathroom furniture range, the next step will be Bedroom furniture and sliding robes. New Image Tiles

Not everyone has the luxury of having a large bathroom, and small bathrooms can be more of a challenge to fit in everything you need. Do not despair – with clever storage ideas and the use of a good colour palette even the smallest of bathrooms can have illusions of grandeur.

Here are three small bathroom ideas to help you get the perfect look for your new bathroom.

Free up your floor and wall space

Vanity units come in all shapes and sizes with drawers and cupboards. To make your small bathroom look bigger use wall mounted units- this will reveal more floor area giving the illusion of a bigger space but you will have somewhere to put all the lotions and potions that can make your room look cluttered. The same principle applies to your ‘throne’- once again a wall mounted loo can give the illusion of a bigger floor area and gives a very modern, sleek look with wall mounted flush plate- and of course all the technical stuff is hidden away behind the wall. We have a huge selection of wall hung vanity units and w/c’s available to order next day. Or if you’re looking for a specific size, colour or finish we can make that for you in our Dorset based factory. Free up wall space by using electric underfloor heating under the tiles eliminating the need for radiators. Radiators can act like dust traps, spreading dust, pollen, and germs, causing major health problems for asthma and allergy sufferers. Underfloor heating reduces draughts and dries wet floors quickly, reducing the moisture dust mites need to survive, while maintaining a healthy level of humidity.

Clever storage solutions

Don’t forget there is plenty of storage space above ground level. Use towel radiators, wall mounted cabinets and shelving to create more storage, be creative and use baskets and crates and storage ladders or floating shelves to display glass jars filled with cotton balls and bath bombs and rolled towels and toilet rolls.

Showering is more popular today than ever and if you don’t have room for both bath and shower then think about a combination of them both and have a shower bath; the best of both worlds. Once again you can save on the footprint of your bathroom by not choosing a ‘P’ shaped shower bath and shortening the length from the most common 1700mm long to a 1600mm. For extra storage use the space under and around the bath with new and clever storage bath panels- every square inch counts in a small room, and it keeps the ‘clutter’ out of sight.

At New Image, we have lots of small bathroom ideas. We can supply storage solutions, vanity units and fitted furniture in bespoke sizes which means that you can maximise storage space even in the most awkward of spaces.  We can even supply bespoke bath panels which can be colour coordinated to suit your furniture, tiles or paint choices.

Choose your colour scheme

Small bathroom ideas which involve a complimentary colour scheme from the start are nearly always successful. There are clever tricks with colour and shape to help make a small room look even bigger. So once all the necessary bits have been chosen then the fun part can start- what colour?

A neutral colour palette will generally be calming and aesthetically pleasing- choosing whites, creams and greys as the base colour will open up the look and feel of the room and will always look clean and fresh and won’t date. Introduce accents of colour, pattern and texture with décor tiles, listellos and mosaics to add depth and creativity. Then comes the fun part where you can inject colour with vibrant towels, bath mats, posh soaps and accessories- these are the least expensive things to change and if you do change them your bathroom will look brand new all over again but keep your knick-knack’s  to a minimum to avoid a cluttered look. Remember that rectangular tiles laid landscape will give the illusion of receding walls and make the room look larger, whereas if tiles are laid portrait the height of the room will be emphasised- so decide which you want enhance.

At New Image, we can offer sample tiles to take away before you make your final choices so you can be 100% confident that your tiles will achieve the look you want.

Tiled bathroom floors are practical and easy to maintain and keep clean and the more of it you can see the larger the room will look. A light floor colour will make the room appear airier but a dark floor would add interest and visual impact.

So, if you use our bathroom ideas, hints and tips and give your small bathroom a makeover you could turn it into a luxurious space with a designer look.

Nationally the campaign total now stands at a staggering £8,641,243.02 and the charity is aiming for a total of £25million.“

The first ever MacMillan Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective; they did it again the next year on a national level. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for Macmillan. Visitors were encouraged to visit the showroom at 8 Kent Close, Weymouth and have a tasty cup of coffee and a delicious cake.

On 18th February 2017 New Image will be sponsoring the very first “Make Waves for Weldmar” at the Osprey Leisure Centre raising funds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust. The event will take place from 12.30 until 2.30 when entrants can be a swim star for Weldmar by registering a team of six swimmers to take part in the event.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]New Image continues to offer one of the largest choices of tiles in South Dorset. Kbb Bathroom Awards Finalist. Bathroom Customer Service award.

Local Weymouth business, New Image, has been nominated as a finalist in the Bathroom Customer Service of the Year category in the 2016 prestigious kbbreview Retail & Design Awards. Entered annually by the very best in the industry for kitchens and bathrooms, the ceremony is organised by kbbreview, the industry’s leading trade magazine for over 30 years.

Steve Cobb. Director at New Image TilesSteve Cobb, Director of New Image, says: “I feel highly honoured and privileged to have been selected as one of the top four bathroom retailers in the UK for best customer service. Considering that we come from a small town like Weymouth, and are up against many larger and more recognised companies, this is an amazing acknowledgement. With my step daughter Kerrie’s hard work, we are very proud of all of our staff, who have followed our passion.

“In particular, I would like to thank Craig Foskett, one of our sales staff, who was instrumental in us being put forward for this award on the day of the mystery shop. Customer service is the most important element in our industry. We constantly strive to improve on what we do; to try to be the very best, and give our customers an experience above and beyond their expectations from the moment they enter the showroom, to ensure all our customers are as satisfied as we can possibly expect.”

Tim Wallace, Editor of kbbreview says: “After the great success of our 21st anniversary last year, we’re delighted to see this enthusiasm carried through to 2016. As always, we have received an abundance of submissions of the very highest standard which have undergone a rigorous judging process by our panel of industry professionals.

“We would therefore like to extend our congratulations to New Image on being nominated as a finalist in their category, and wish them the very best of luck going forward.”

Winners of the bathroom awards will be announced by the traditional opening of an envelope at the glittering, black tie gala dinner taking place on Monday 7th March at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
