New Image has been a family a run business for more than 30 years and is well known within Weymouth and the wider Dorset area. During this time we’ve worked hard to establish an excellent reputation within the local community as well as earning our place as a trusted trade supplier.

In recent years, we’ve expanded our offering to include bespoke kitchens, bathrooms, bedroom and office furniture and felt our existing branding no longer represented our service. After careful consideration, we decided the time had come for a new look and feel and wanted to create something elegant and timeless, that reflected the quality of our products and our staffs experience and expertise.

New branding, same great staff

The branding has given us a new lease of life and we’re delighted the time has finally come to share our revamp with new and existing customers.

We’d be thrilled if you take some time to pop in the showroom and see the makeover for yourself – we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. New Image is still owned and ran by the same great team, so you can rest assured that you will receive the same exemplary customer service and product advice.

New Image Tiles

Accent colours are colours that contrast the dominant scheme in a room. They are used to add impact and personality to a space and can be vibrant, bold, natural, dark or vivid. There are many different ways to use accent colours to create drama in your home. Here we explain the best ways to use accent colours to create an eye-catching feature in your bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or lounge.

How to use accent colours

The primary accent colour should be used sparingly to achieve a stylish interior. As a guide, we recommend around 3 or 5 times in a single room. Using too much can be overkill and cause the space to look dark or cluttered. Using small quantities will help draw your eyes around the space. To create continuity and flow, you may wish to use the same accent colour throughout the whole house.

The dominant colour should cover approximately 60% of the room and the secondary colour around 30%. Accent colours should make up the final 10%. When used effectively, accent colours can highlight architectural details such as coving, skirtings, architrave, picture and dado rails, bannisters and trims.

Bathroom

  • Feature walls behind the bath or inside the shower enclosure for a more permanent accent colour
  • Towels & bathmats can be easily changed according to the season, colour trends or just because you feel like it
  • Window blinds and sills
  • Accessories such as perfume bottles, fancy shower gels, or bath bombs

Kitchens

  • Introduce a coloured splashback or tiles behind the hob
  • Upgrade your kettle and toaster – there of lots of stylish designs and colours available
  • Accessories, such as plant pots and photo frames
  • Blinds
  • Artwork
  • Bar stools and dining chairs
  • Paint the back wall of open storage units

Bedrooms

  • Cushions and throws
  • Artwork
  • Accessories, such as lamps and lampshade, rug
  • Feature walls

Lounge

  • Feature walls in alcoves or behind fireplaces
  • Cushions and throws
  • Occasional chairs
  • Coffee tables
  • Your favourite artwork
  • Accessories such as lampshades, rugs and picture frames

What accent colour should I use?

Deciding which accent colour to use is largely personal preference, but having a good understanding of colour theory will prevent potential disasters. For a more subtle look, you can choose a colour that is in the same family as the predominant wall colour e.g. a couple of shades lighter or darker. Or, for something a bit more striking a complimentary colour (opposite colour on the colour wheel) will look great. If you want to keep it simple you could introduce a neutral colour such as white or grey. You can also play with textures such as wood or metallics.

Introducing an accent colour is a cost effective way of giving your home a new lease of life. Small changes can make a big impact and completely transform the look and feel of a tired space. If we’ve inspired you to try an accent colour in your property, we encourage you to pop into our Weymouth tile, kitchen and bathroom showroom to take a look at our product range. Our experienced and friendly team will work with you to decide a colour scheme and suggest ways of adding a pop of colour to help focus the eye.

New Image Tiles

Over the years we have helped many customers restore their period homes, creating elegant bathrooms, kitchens and hallways that are in keeping with the overall look and style of the property.

Whether you’re looking to recreate classic features or simply give a nod to your home’s heritage, we can help you design eye catching spaces that are full of character and will stand the test of time.

Choosing the right tiles for your period home

In traditional Victorian period properties, the hallway was one of the most important rooms in the house. It was a place of grandeur, where home owners could display their wealth and seek to impress their guests with ornate tiles, laid in intricate patterns.

Unfortunately, many period properties have since lost this feature, but there are a number of modern solutions if you’re looking to create an authentic look. At New Image we stock an extensive range of porcelain and vitrified ceramic Victorian tiles, which have been carefully designed to mimic traditional patterns and layouts. We have a wide selection of borders and colours, which can be mixed to create bespoke patterns. These can be used on the floor or to create decorative panels around fireplaces or other original features.

Our experienced design team can also help you choose classic flooring styles to be used throughout the rest of your home. Natural stone tiles have been used for centuries and are an excellent option for period properties. They are extremely hardwearing and durable and the different textures will give a rustic appearance in keeping with the rest of the home.

Traditional kitchens combining function and style

Solid wood kitchens with granite worktops and shaker style doors look great in period homes, especially when combined with decorative elements such as cornices and plinths. Traditionally, the cupboards would have been natural wood, but a neutral colour palette can also be used. Cream, white and duck egg blue have always been popular colourways, but we are seeing an increasing number of customers choose dark and striking colours to add a modern twist.

Exposed beams and brickwork can help to create an authentic look and carefully thought out storage solutions are an excellent way to ensure kitchens remain functional. Incorporating a larder cupboard or exposed shelving is a nice touch and in keeping with more traditional styles.

Sleek and elegant bathroom designs

We have seen a resurgence in Victorian inspired bathroom suites in the last couple of years. This elegant style looks great in a range of homes and can help create a luxurious and tranquil space, where you can relax and unwind.

If space permits, a free standing, roll top bath is a great statement piece, which will help tie the look together. Many of the leading brands have developed heritage ranges, including wall mounted cisterns with a pull chain flush, heated towel rails and ornate mixer taps, which look great on their own or when styled as an entire collection.

Metro tiles in cream, white or grey are the ideal choice for a traditional bathroom.

If you would like further advice on period property restoration please book an appointment to meet with one of our design team.

Ben new image

We are very pleased to welcome Ben, our new Showroom Manager to our team. Rather then tell you about him ourselves, here’s his story in his own words…

Hi everyone, it’s nice to meet you!

My name is Ben and I’m super excited for what’s to come in my career at New Image as Tile Showroom Manager. I left college in the summer of 2011 when I started work with a local and reputable tiling business Jake Richmond Ceramics Ltd. It was then my passion for all things tiles, bathrooms and kitchens evolved. It allowed me to develop my tiling skills so that I was able to gain a good, quality understanding on what works well together both practically and creatively. It taught me that attention to detail is key, to the point where I find myself assessing grout lines in every restaurant and cafe!

Experienced tiler and store manager

After 3 years as a tiler, I became store manager of nationwide tiling retailer Topps Tiles. This allowed me to share my skills and knowledge with both colleagues, customers and other tilers in the industry. My passion for tiling continued to grow as quickly as did my knowledge of the products. I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people who share similar interests as me, so it means I’ve been able to talk all things tiles, bathrooms and kitchens with others who are also passionate about the work they’re planning or carrying out.

5 years flew by and it was time for a new challenge, so I took the plunge and started work as the tile Showroom Manager at New Image. I’m extremely excited to support a local business that I’ve been so fond of for so many years. We recently kitted out our kitchen, hallway and bathroom in the Montana tiles from New Image because of their exceptional quality and affordable prices. Not only do I believe in their products but the help and advice I’ve personally received from their store when renovating my own house was commendable. So I’m very excited to see what the future will bring with my career at New Image.

Life outside of work

Outside of work I am a huge football fan and I often trek up to Nottingham for the day to watch my favourite team play. Some call me mad, not only because I spend so much time travelling just to watch a 90 minute match, but also because of my choice of team… You reds!!!

Aside from football, I have my fiancé, a dog and two chickens. I’m looking forward to getting married in Thailand, a country I’ve never been to but very excited to experience with our families.

Our rescue dog, Dylan, is turning 3 years old. He’s a Collie x Australian Kelpie and still has bundles of energy! So, if I’m not on the road to Nottingham at 6am, you’re likely to find me in a field throwing a ball for Dylan!

Our chickens, although both female, are called Dudley and Doris. I agreed with my fiancé that we could get them in exchange for a year’s subscription of Sky Sports… the things you’ll do for (football) love, hey?

Anyway, that’s enough about me. Why not pop into New Image for a chat about all things tiles? I look forward to seeing you soon!

New Image Tiles

With the growth of national superstores and online shopping, it can be easy for customers to overlook independent retailers. Despite the expertise, product range and level of the service they offer many people choose to opt for a better-known brand.

As a local family business we are keen to stand up and support the local business community. Here’s just 7 of the reasons we think you should shop local and visit New Image Tiles for your next DIY or restoration project.

  1. Independent and family run

New Image Tiles was founded in 1989 and has established itself as the premier independent tile, kitchen and bathroom retailer in Weymouth. Over the course of 30 years, the business has gone from strength to strength and now boasts an impressive showroom and warehousing. Business owner, Steve Cobb has worked incredibly hard to grow the business from its humble beginnings with the help of his family members and a team of dedicated staff.

  1. Full scale displays

We know it can be difficult to visualise products for your home, especially when choosing them from a brochure or product sample. That’s why we’ve installed more than 30 full scale room displays in our Weymouth showroom, so you can experience them in situ. Whether you’re looking to buy tiles, a kitchen or a full bathroom suite, our team of experienced and friendly staff can walk you around each display, giving you the opportunity to get a really good feel for our products before purchasing them for your renovation project.

We are a Neff master partner and supplier of Crosswater, Vado, Franke and Bosch. We are always expanding our product range in line with the latest styles and trends to ensure that we can provide our discerning customers with everything they need at affordable prices. We have recently expanded our offering to include Karndean flooring as well as Annie Sloan chalk paint, both of which are proving very popular.

As a local business supported by local customers, we feel that it’s really important to give back wherever possible. At New Image tiles we like to champion good causes and have held a number of fundraising events in support of local charities, including Weldmar Hospicecare and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Some of our staff members have even ‘braved the shave’ and shaved their hair off in aid of Macmillan!

New Image Tiles

2019 marks 30 years since New Image Tiles, Kitchens and Bathrooms first started trading

30 years! It doesn’t seem possible that “New Image Ceramics” the tile fixing business that Steve Cobb started in 1989 is now celebrating its 30th anniversary – and celebrating with some fabulous offers.

Steve Cobb, celebrating 30 years in business.

Humble Beginnings

In 1989 Steve opened his first store on Weymouth’s Abbotsbury Road and from there the business developed into a phenomenal success. He had already identified that the local choice was limited and that, in order to satisfy his ambition, he would need to find larger, more practical premises where expansion could be achieved.

Just over 10 years later he found a site on the town’s Granby Industrial Estate, and it was big! Many people wondered what on earth he was up to in wanting such a big site, not mention choosing to do this in the middle of a recession.

Purpose built tile, kitchen and bathroom showroom

Well, obviously Steve knew what he was doing and from his original shop there soon appeared one of the most practical and attractive buildings, specifically built to his requirements. Not just for tiles, of course but showrooms that now house over 30 room-sized displays of kitchens and bathrooms.

In total the showrooms and warehouse span 12,500 square feet, so spacious as to allow ease of browsing and choosing. And the displays offer choices to suit all tastes, styles and budgets. Add to this the “fantastic service, fair prices and friendly staff” (quoted from their website) then you appreciate what a great company this is.

From quite literally humble beginnings in Abbotsbury Road, great foresight by Steve Cobb has seen his firm grow into a significant independently-owned, family run business with sustainable local employment that specialises in not just tiles, but kitchens and bathrooms too! Supplying to both the general public and trade. The kitchens and bathrooms cater for all budgets, ranging from the basics right through to bespoke made to order furniture, not to mention all of the appliances, sinks and taps to boot!

Prestigious developments such as the Lorton Park site have been fitted and furnished with tiles and bathrooms from New Image, proudly working in tandem with highly respected local building firm AKI.

Celebrations

On Saturday 15th June special anniversary celebration took place. There was live music, free food and drink and also some extraordinary discounts on selected tiles, kitchens, bathrooms and Neff appliances. In fact, 30% off those mentioned. So New Image certainly pushed the boat out during this milestone event. Beside this there were Neff cooking demonstrations and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint demonstrations. Oh yes, also a chance to win a bathroom for £5!

Looking forward

With the future in mind Steve has recently expanded the business further by opening a distribution centre and workshop right here in Weymouth, situated in the new fantastic Green Lane development in Chickerell, expertly built by Buckland Developments. The workshop will become the hub for the hand finishing of their kitchens and bathrooms. It’s clear exciting times are ahead for New Image!

New Image Tiles

We often find ourselves complaining that our high streets and towns and villages are becoming like ‘ghost towns’ with fewer shops, pubs and local businesses but a plethora of empty properties, charity shops and phone outlets. There is plenty of research that will tell you that it is because we seldom buy local anymore.

Shop closing down.

Empty high street shops. Buy local to maintain busy high streets.

Superstore convenience

Superstores and chain stores are amazing places to buy what you need (and what you don’t!) under one roof. They also keep a large number of (often poorly paid) staff employed. However they do not boost the local economy. They sell cheaply but the profits go into a big pot for the stock holders and executives’ wages.

Their prices are competitive because they buy in huge quantities at cheap rates and over inflate their prices for short periods so that they can appear to offer huge discounts. This is often at the expense of the cheap labour in the countries of origin. A large number of those countries don’t follow minimum wage strategies or environmental policies that are affecting the global economy. This sometimes has life threatening effects on their employees.

Manual labour worker.

Also the goods are often of poor quality and the transportation costs are high and environmentally damaging. As a result local producers and farmers are regularly forced to sell at a loss and many go out of business every year. These aspects are seldom considered or we conveniently manage to forget them when we spot a bargain.

Benefits of buying local

Buying locally from small businesses has many beneficial effects for the community.

Small businesses…

  • keep your hard earned money in the local community.
  • are unique. They look and feel different to the generic big stores.
  • help a street to look vibrant and dynamic encouraging more shoppers.
  • staff in have better product knowledge and are usually experts in their field.
  • promote healthy competition and competitive pricing.
  • create happy customers and repeat customers.
  • enable traditional family owned businesses to thrive.
  • strengthen the local economy.
  • help local entrepreneurs to get started.
  • invest in local people. They’re the largest employers nationally and most local jobs.
  • usually pay higher wages than a national chain.
  • tend to support local charities.
  • support local tradesmen.
  • make shopping a more sensory and social experience.
  • value customers more. Therefore the service and after sales is likely to be better.
  • support the area where you work, live and play.
  • encourage face-to-face interaction. They help fix problems so less hanging on the phone for ages.
  • are real people to talk to and have a conversation with.

Small businesses equals big communities

Many small local businesses do not make huge profits. Often the profits they do make go into funding things like the upkeep of the property, advertising, rates, rent, printing and wages. This then puts that money straight back into the community and a healthy local community needs that money to thrive. Research shows that just a £10 spend with a local independent shop puts an extra £50 back into the local economy by that money going into nearby shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Thus keeping this money re-circulating at a local level.

The tax burdens on a local community can be higher if a town is filled with national companies because they are often given tax incentives to move to a town but they can pay less in taxes which means that local residents end up paying more.

There is also the increase of road traffic and the thousands of tonnes of packaging that we should all consider when we don’t buy locally! Consumers are starting to realise the results of their shopping habits as more and more local amenities and shops disappear, villages are losing their small community atmosphere and shopping is becoming more generic.

Buy local

So before you buy from a multi-national company or a superstore or online check whether your local small businesses can provide what you need. It may not always be as convenient, or quite as cheap, but you will be helping to keep the spirit of the town going and helping your local community in many different ways.

The more we shop locally the more shops there will be. Our advice, especially with tiles, kitchens and bathrooms, is to put your money where your house is and buy local.

Painted Grey

Wood-effect floors, walls, worktops and cabinets.

Wooden flooring had humble beginnings and started life, several hundred years ago, as rough hewn wooden planks that only the wealthiest could afford. Thankfully things moved on fairly quickly and floorboards and parquet has become the norm in even the most modest of homes. With improvements in photographic and texturing technology and the use of modern materials, there are realistic wood alternatives for most items that you can put in your home. Not only do these alternatives look like their real wood equivalent, but textured products feel like the real thing too!

So, if your real wood flooring is faded with the sun or is showing signs of wear and tear, but you love the look and texture, New Image can offer you wood effect alternatives for your floors, walls, worktops and cabinets for any room in your home.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles

New Image stock a huge range of wood effect tiles in both porcelain and ceramic. Porcelain tiles are heavy duty and suitable for almost anywhere – even outside. Ceramic floor tiles are suitable for light use areas i.e. bathrooms, bedrooms, studies, and ceramic wall tiles are suitable only for walls.

Our ranges of wood effect tiles come in different colours, sizes, plank lengths, grain patterns, distressed, lime-washed, textures and from floorboard sizes to parquet. The benefits of tiles include;

• Maintenance free
• Scratch proof
• Fade resistant
• 100 % Waterproof
• Long lasting
• Easily cleaned – no harsh chemicals, a mop & hot water will do the trick
• No wear and tear
• Fire-proof
• Hygienic
• Frost proof
• Allergen free
• Stain resistant
• Environmentally friendly
• Great with underfloor heating
• Won’t warp or rot
• R10 slip resistant for most textured tiles

Bathroom & Shower room walls

If tiling is not for you in your bathroom, wetroom or shower room then consider Nuance shower boards. The designs are printed in life-like proportions and textures. They are a quick and easy solution which is guaranteed for 15 years when installed using the manufacturer’s instructions. This system, unlike most others, does not require trims, internal or external corners, end caps or H sections and a competent DIYer could fit them as they are just stuck up and the corners sealed with a colour matched sealant.

New Image Tiles

2017 is well and truly behind us and 2018 is the ‘Year of the Dog’-So let’s get your tails wagging and your ears pricked with some of the latest ideas.   So what, you may ask, is going to be trendy and new in bathrooms this year?  Good questions to ask are;

  • What will be the influences?
  • How will technology be incorporated?
  • What styles, patterns and colours will be in vogue?
  • Let me try to scratch the surface and answer these questions.

For many people who decide to make changes or renovations in their home the inspiration and impetus for making the changes often follows a stay in a hotel in a stylish or exotic location and the creation of a new bathing sanctuary will bring back memories while relaxing. If you don’t have a holiday planned soon and some inspiration is required then look no further than our fabulous showroom where we have over 20 stylish bathroom settings to help get your creative juices flowing.

Large Format Tiles

The main change in tiles is that large formats are taking over for bathroom walls and floors. These Great Danes of the tile world take less time to fit and there are less grout joints. Most manufacturers in Europe are discontinuing small format tiles for the larger sizes and with the development of printing technology the finishes and decorative effects applied to porcelain and ceramic tiles are very sophisticated and realistic, for instance wood effect tiles not only look like wood but have a wood texture too and textures add warmth to a tile and takes away from a clinical cold look.

Use the same tiles on the walls and floor to give a ‘spa- like’ effect and should you choose the ever more trending ‘marbles’ you could get the look of luxurious marble at a much more affordable price.

Floor areas are less than wall areas so for maximum impact on a limited budget it makes sense to be more extravagant on the floor tiles.

Patterns and Colours

Patterns and colours are back with a vengeance, and thank goodness! Unlike the random spots of Dalmatians there are some rules to make using colours and patterns work well.
As a rule of thumb if you have a patterned floor the walls should be plain and vice versa, patterned walls should have a plain floor. However, that is not a fast and hard rule!
The trends for 2018 are for colourful, bold patterns of either a single design or a collective of various patterns. A complete immersion of pattern from the floor up is forecast to be huge, but not everyone would be comfortable with that amount of pattern in what is generally one of the smallest rooms in the house. Bold colour accents are the solution to introduce colour and pattern and add character to a room, but bold does not mean avocado and peach!

The colour trends for this year are shades of blue- perfect for bathrooms as they are reminiscent of the sky and sea- denim blue, indigo, and turquoise are the ‘in’ colours for 2018 as often dictated by the fashion industry. This choice of colour range for a bathroom is a long term investment because they are for life and not just for Christmas, they will never go out of fashion.

Traditional

Like a British Bulldog, traditional and period styling never goes out of date and works as well in modern new builds as well as Victorian and Edwardian properties. Free standing roll top baths are as popular as ever but the latest trend is to have a coloured outside. Some can be painted in traditional colours and others come in a selection of 2 or 3 colours with a dove grey exterior being the most popular. Freestanding and roll top baths are synonymous with luxury bathrooms and are one of the attributes that Zoopla has in their top 10 features that help to sell a house.

You can go all out and complete the look with everything traditional including taps, accessories, shower heads and valves, toilets, furniture and even the choice of tiling, or combine a mixture of traditional and modern- both work well together.

Ultra Modern

Ultra-modern furniture, just like Cockapoos and Labradoodles, are in vogue this year. The increasing need for practical bathroom storage is dictating this current trend- let’s be honest you can’t buy less than 12 toilet rolls and who doesn’t buy a good BOGOF?
High gloss modular bathroom furniture is the most popular and is available in a whole range of colours, sizes and styles. All the unsightly pipework is hidden away and there are less dust and dirt traps. With a sleek profile your room will look more spacious especially if the units are wall hung- the more floor you see tricks your eyes to make the room appear bigger and lighter- a bonus in narrow rooms.

White gloss will help to reflect the light and brighten a darker room.
A matt finish, however, is less likely to show finger marks, water marks and limescale residue, so is often more practical.
Bright and bold colours are becoming trendier this year, with orange, red and zesty lime being popular choices. Fun and organic shapes are being introduced into bathroom furniture ranges, so look out for curves and angles.

Brassware

Golden Retrievers are golden, brassware is chrome! No more- both are available in other limited colours. Colour trends for bathroom and kitchen brassware are gold and copper- copper has been available and popular for a year or two and is not likely to diminish but gold is rising in both of these areas with champagne and rose gold being the colours trending this year. These gold colours are less brassy looking than the gold taps of old and with antique gold and brushed copper having soft finishes all these colours add a touch of class and luxury to any room. With mosaic tiles, accessories and lighting being produced in these colours then the theme can be continued around your room, but use them sparingly for a more subtle and understated effect.

Lighting

Just like man’s best friend who lights up your life, bathroom lighting can do the same. Technology has changed bathroom lighting and it is considered a key component of a good bathroom. Illuminated mirrors and cabinets with demisters, sockets, Bluetooth, clocks and magnifiers are almost an essential in most bathrooms, they look good, are practical and add extra storage. LED lights can be warm or cool, zoned, inset, wall mounted and sensor.

Lit mirrors are available in any number of shapes, styles and sizes to suit every bathroom and they can even play your favourite music be it relaxing or revitalising to enhance your bathing experience.

The Tail End

We at New Image believe that what defines a luxury bathroom is the room design and the product design and any bathroom that our customers have invested in- be that in time, effort or money, will offer an element of luxury- even if that is an added sense of security, comfort or the feeling of indulgence. Luxury doesn’t have to be dominated by expensive products to create that WOW in your bathroom. With our expertise and experience we want our customers to feel that we have not only fulfilled their expectations but exceeded them.
Luxury should be standard and not an aspiration so come and take a leisurely stroll around our showroom and see what we can do for you, you would be barking mad not to!!

Director of New Image, Steve Cobb said: “Sponsoring this event for Weldmar was very personal for me. My wife had cancer, and died 7 years ago. I wanted to support a charity that helps people in a similar situation. It’s also about creating awareness, about the charity and about us”.

New Image has organised a number of fundraising and community events over the past few months including the  “Big Dorset Cuppa”  in June 2016 which  raised  £200.00  for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and they also sponsored a Family Fun Day to raise money for an amazing charity called Scotty’s Little Soldiers who support the children of the fallen British Forces.  The event at Redlands Community Sports Hub was held on Sunday, 10th July 2016 and raised over £4500.00.

New Image continues to offer one of the largest choices of tiles in Dorset.  The large tile warehouse enables customers to receive prompt delivery of their tile choice almost immediately after selection, allowing them to complete their dream rooms as quickly as possible.

New Image started as ‘The Tile Shop’ on Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth in 1989 and has since grown from strength to strength. In 2010 the Weymouth showroom relocated to a new showroom at Granby Industrial Estate offering a truly inspiring collection of tiles, displayed in beautiful bathrooms and kitchens displays.

New Image Tiles

As a Local business owner, we (The Dorset Echo) asked Steve Cobb from New Image Tiles, Kitchens and Bathrooms on the Granby in Weymouth, what his opinion was with our exit from the Europe Union.

“Being one of the largest independent retail showrooms in Dorset, because we purchase the majority of our products from European countries, we get a really good insight in how Brexit is affecting the UK market. We have seen the Euro fluctuate on a regular basis over the past couple of years, and it has been just as low in the past as it currently is, and I feel the media sometimes doesn’t help, by spreading doom and gloom through the nation, when the reality is nothing has changed.

We purchase all our tiles direct from factories in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, and all of our component parts for our kitchen manufacturing, is purchased direct from the top manufacturers in Germany, and having had many a conversation with Business owners, Reps and Agents that work for all these European suppliers, the overall opinion is that very little will change, the reason for this is that we are a customer, and Europe needs our custom, especially having had a very difficult time during the recession, where in some cases up to 50% of factories had to close.”

“I feel that there are definitely some suppliers that are using Brexit as an opportunity and excuse to increase prices, and to be fair, there are normally price increases year on year anyway. Some of our suppliers have not mentioned any increases, others have had a small increase, but some like Neff Kitchen Appliances are having to increase their prices by 8-10% due to raw material suppliers increase. Neff will have their increase on 15th November, so I am encouraging anyone looking at appliances to place their orders quickly and beat the increase. If you are having a new kitchen and all new appliances, you could save up to £500 by getting your order in now.”

Price Fluctuations from Brexit

Despite many of the price increases that we are seeing in the country, Steve has managed to keep most of his prices the same, some will have to go up, but some have come down. We asked Steve how he has managed to do this, and Steve replied

“I have always been very passionate about trying to give our customers the very best service and good quality products at great value for money, and to achieve this we have had to work harder and smarter, having spent many months, sourcing better prices for our materials and negotiating with suppliers, much the same as Tesco have with Unilever, to maintain the best we possibly can for our customers. In fact with some of our kitchens we have managed to reduce the prices by around 15%, which if you previously paid £10,000, today you could get it for £8,500 which is a massive saving, when you think other suppliers with their increases, you would probably be paying £11,000.”

“I am very excited about the future, as we continue to expand our manufacturing plant, investing in more Italian CNC machinery, and having recently released our own Germanic True Handless range of Kitchen Furniture, and our own bespoke Bathroom furniture range, the next step will be Bedroom furniture and sliding robes. This growth will only benefit the local economy, with the prospect of more jobs available as we grow.”

“I believe we have a very bright future with Europe by being an independent again following Brexit.”

Nationally the campaign total now stands at a staggering £8,641,243.02 and the charity is aiming for a total of £25million.“

The first ever MacMillan Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective; they did it again the next year on a national level. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for Macmillan. Visitors were encouraged to visit the showroom at 8 Kent Close, Weymouth and have a tasty cup of coffee and a delicious cake.

Kbb Bathroom Awards Finalist. Bathroom Customer Service award.

Local Weymouth business, New Image, has been nominated as a finalist in the Bathroom Customer Service of the Year category in the 2016 prestigious kbbreview Retail & Design Awards. Entered annually by the very best in the industry for kitchens and bathrooms, the ceremony is organised by kbbreview, the industry’s leading trade magazine for over 30 years.

Steve Cobb. Director at New Image TilesSteve Cobb, Director of New Image, says: “I feel highly honoured and privileged to have been selected as one of the top four bathroom retailers in the UK for best customer service. Considering that we come from a small town like Weymouth, and are up against many larger and more recognised companies, this is an amazing acknowledgement. With my step daughter Kerrie’s hard work, we are very proud of all of our staff, who have followed our passion.

“In particular, I would like to thank Craig Foskett, one of our sales staff, who was instrumental in us being put forward for this award on the day of the mystery shop. Customer service is the most important element in our industry. We constantly strive to improve on what we do; to try to be the very best, and give our customers an experience above and beyond their expectations from the moment they enter the showroom, to ensure all our customers are as satisfied as we can possibly expect.”

Tim Wallace, Editor of kbbreview says: “After the great success of our 21st anniversary last year, we’re delighted to see this enthusiasm carried through to 2016. As always, we have received an abundance of submissions of the very highest standard which have undergone a rigorous judging process by our panel of industry professionals.

“We would therefore like to extend our congratulations to New Image on being nominated as a finalist in their category, and wish them the very best of luck going forward.”

Winners of the bathroom awards will be announced by the traditional opening of an envelope at the glittering, black tie gala dinner taking place on Monday 7th March at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
