Description
Fine Italian Porcelain Tiles, Hampton Old White, is a porcelain alternative to the famous Egyptian Limestone, Sinai Pearl.
Egyptian Limestone has been used in construction for thousands of years. Some of the world’s most famous structures are composed of it, including the Houses of Parliament and the Empire State Building. One of the most important and perhaps most beautiful Egyptian limestone types is Sinai Pearl, as it can blend with almost any colour scheme in interior and exterior design.
Hampton Old White has been produced in a porcelain material, using digital technology to create an almost exact replica of Sinai Pearl. Two colours are available, Old White and Ash.
Suitable for wall and floor tile applications, this highly versatile range will look stunning in any property as it adapts well to modern and traditional designs. The fine detail on the tile’s surface incorporates the natural fossilisation found in real Limestone. The lightly chipped edges of the tile create a rustic charm.
So why choose a porcelain alternative to Limestone rather than the real thing?
One of the biggest reasons people choose porcelain alternatives is maintenance. Natural Limestone can be really difficult to care for properly. It needs sealing during the initial installation. Once fitted, it will also need routine cleaning with specialist products and re-sealing once a year. Natural Limestone is very porous and will absorb moisture and stains quickly if not well cared for.
Porcelain tiles are comparable to glass in terms of absorption, so water and stains will sit on the tile’s surface rather than soaking in.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that some fitters will charge a higher price for installing natural stone. Porcelain tiles are easier to cut and have no need to seal.
