What is a Concealed Valve Shower?

Concealed valve showers are becoming increasingly popular in modern and on trend bathrooms. The pipework is hidden behind a control plate, where you can adjust the water temperature and flow. You can remove the dials to gain access for maintenance if required.

Most concealed shower valves are thermostatically controlled, which means the shower will maintain a constant temperature, even if water is being used elsewhere in the house.

The ShowerSelect is a thermostatic mixer designed for use with 2 outlets. It has a button for on/off control with a start/stop valve to operate the outlets.

This stylish wall-mounted valve is subtle and understated, perfect for creating a high-end look and feel.

Ecostat E

The Ecostat E has a square shape with soft rounded corners. Like the ShowerSelect, it has been designed for use with 2 outlets, but has two twistable dials instead.

ShowerSelect Comfort S

The Shower SelectComfort S is a luxury shower valve suitable for 3 outlets. The outlets can be used simultaneously and controlled using on /off buttons. It easy to install due to having a pre-assembled outlet block.

This stylish concealed valve shower is delivered with rain small, rain large, hand shower, waterfall and bathtub buttons.

ShowerSelect Comfort E

The ShowerSelect Comfort E has a square shape with clean lines and angular corners, making it the perfect choice if you’re opting for geometric shapes in your bathroom or ensuite. It’s well suited to modern bathrooms with a minimalist look and feel.

All 3 outlets can be used at the same time providing a luxurious shower experience. Operate via large on/off select paddles.

This luxury concealed valve is easy to install due to having a pre-assembled block. The maximum temperature cannot be controlled on installation.

Space saving – concealed showers are a great choice for small bathrooms. You don’t need to worry about the pipework or fixings protruding outwards and eating in to valuable space

What are the Disadvantages of Concealed Valve Showers?

Trickier to install – concealed valve showers are more difficult to install than exposed valve showers. An experienced professional will need to cut into the wall and potentially re-route pipework. If you are replacing an existing shower this can cause damaged to the tiles or wall. Concealed valve showers are recommended when replacing the entire bathroom as part of a larger project. It is quite complex to fit them retrospectively if the walls have already been ‘made good’
Access – getting access to the pipework after the shower has been installed is difficult. This means maintenance or repairs can be challenging
Cost – concealed valve showers are tend to be more expensive than exposed valve showers. The complex installation is also likely to incur additional labour costs
